The object of the game of Monopoly is to BANKRUPT the other players.

Not play for hours and hours and hours and hours. People who hate monopoly, hate it because some stupid house rules are used and the game never ends. Imagine playing RISK where you could just build new armies when your old ones got wiped out.

So...NO! You CANNOT borrow money from the bank.

You CANNOT borrow money from another player.

Here is the quote from the rule book.

MISCELLANEOUS… Money can be loaned to a player only by the

Bank and then only by mortgaging property. No player may borrow

from or lend money to another player.

dont go overboard on spending, you want to try and buy certain properties such as the orange and red's because they are cheaper and offer higher rewards. What you don't want to do is spend money on stupid properties that aren't needed, also make alliances by trading away properties that aren't going to be of use, this way later in the game people wont be trying to get you out as much as other players

In the original 1935 edition, no.

In the 1980s "Playmaster" game enhancer, it was one of the "added features" to stimulate the game.

You had to have a Monopoly, and put the whole thing up as collateral.

You would get exactly 7 turns to pay the loan back + 10% interest or the bank takes it all and you are OUT.

On average, the loan would pay for about 5 or 6 houses on your Monopoly. The best return on any property comes from the third house erected on it. Therefore, the best chance of risk taking would be to take out the loan when you have enough dough to purchase 9 houses simultaneously and go all in.

Not if you are playing by the rules. Some people allow it informally, but you could never do it in a competition. Part of the game is you could be $5 short, and be forced to sell a house or mortgage a property.

At any time a player may borrow $500 from the bank. Until the loan is paid off, the player will only receive $100 when passing Go, as interest. A player may not pay off the loan until he has passed Go at least once since borrowing the money. If you go bankrupt the creditor inherits your debt. Anyone who inherits a debt cannot pay it off until he has passed Go once since inheriting that debt.

No. You can trade with other players, and mortgage your properties, but never borrow.

If you play buy the official rules you can't, but if you are playing with your family and you really don't care you can. But in the true game once you are out of money you are out of the game. (:

you can steal when people are busy with something else. but this needs a good geopolitic/strategic position on the table.

*This also enables you to not pay it back at all. Trick is that you should steal small amounts and it won't get noticed.

I think you can if you turn the properties over after selling houses and hotels - mortgaging them

And the other players have to agree - I think
