I'm a varsity chess player so i can answer. If you've been checked in the past, yes. You can't castle out of check, into check or through check. Can't if you've moved your king, or your rook, can't castle out of checkmate either, sorry bud

do you mean if the king has been checked on a previous move? that's not what everyone else here (except Junction) seems to think you're asking.

i'll answer both questions anyways.

Castling is the only move when you can move 2 of your own pieces on the same move.

There are 2 types of castling: King's side (the rook moves 2 squares after the King moved) and Queen's side (the rook moves 3 squares after the King moved)

Yes, the king can castle if he's been in check, as long as you used the 1st or 3rd ways ©Florida Gator Man stated (the 2nd way means the king moved, see the rules below)

1. It is the King's first move

2. It is is the selected Rook's first move

3. The King is not in check

4. The square the King moves through is not a square that would be check

5. The square the King moves to is not a square that would be check (like usual)

6. There are no pieces between the King and selected Rook

The only way you can castle if you have already been checked at some point is if you did not move your king to escape the check, but instead used another piece to block the check.

Yes. Provided you are not castling out of check or through check.

So if a piece checked you and you put another piece in the way you can castle later on.

If you are not currently in check, yes

If, say, five moves ago he put you in check and you captured the piece putting you in check or blocked the check, you can still castle. If you moved your king then moved him back, you can't.

You CAN castle after you have been checked in the game, but you CANNOT castle to remove the King from check.

No you can not castle to get out of check. You can also not castle if you moved your king or moved the rook you want to castle with.

You can not castle out of check.

The three ways to get out are

1. Block

2. Move the King

3. Take

If playing bug house you can place a piece to block another piece from taking.

you are able to purely fort on the time the place your bishop, knight and queen are out of how. or purely the bishop and knight are out of how. so the respond on your question is not any.
