I was wondering if there are other classic (1800s or earlier) board games that are similar to Go in objective. By objective, I mean the goal is to capture / control board territory rather than just capture opponent pieces. It can use stones like Go, shaped pieces like chess, or whatever. I don't mean "connect the dots" type games either like Gomoku. The country of origin doesn't matter.
